What Do I Need To Know Before Wearing My New Wig?
Pre-Styling

After removing the protective hair net, hold your wig by the front hairline and shake it gently to separate the fibers and “wake up” the style. Be sure to keep the hair net for storing your wig between wearings.

Setting

Mist your wig with clean, cool water and use your fingertips or a wide-toothed comb to style it. Let it air dry on a wig stand.

Using a Wig Liner

We suggest you use a Especially Yours Wig Liner to hold your hair in place. For a more comfortable fit, try our Comfy Grip featured in our Wig Accessories section of our web site.

Positioning

Hold your wig at the sides with the woven label in back. Slide it on from front to back, positioning the front edge slightly over your natural hairline. Use the ear tabs to center your wig from left to right. Ear tabs should rest slightly above your ears.

Finishing

Tuck in any stray hairs. adjust the fit of your wig using the Velcro tabs. For added security, you may want to use a few bobby pins to keep your wig in place.

How Do I Style My Synthetic Wig?
Shake ‘n Go

Try the “shake ‘n go” method. Many wig styles, especially shorter ones, need only a good shake and they are ready to wear.

Keep Things Relaxed

Don’t worry about getting every last hair perfectly in place. This can make your wig look unnatural.

For Curly Styles

Give your wig a shake and gently lift and separate the curls from your fingers or a pick comb.

For Wavy Styles

Brush lightly with your wig styling brush or pick comb, using short, lifting strokes – just enough to relax the style.

For Straight Styles

Brush in long, even strokes from the crown to the ends for a smooth, sleek look.

Keep It Looking Great

At the end of each day, spray the ends of your wig with Especially Yours conditioner formulated for synthetic hair. Gently remove tangles with a styling comb or your fingertips.

Don’t Use Heat

Never expose your SYNTHETIC WIG to excessive heat as it will damage the hair fibers. Do not use a curling iron or hair dryer to style it. Also, avoid heat sources such as ovens.

Accessorize It

Keep It Fresh

Treat human hair wigs as you would your own, natural hair. Follow the care instructions but feel free to use curling irons, blow dryers or hot rollers to get the most out of your style. How Do I Care For My New Wig?
Washing

Gently remove tangles using a wide toothed comb and turn it inside out. Soak for five minutes in a solution of cold water and Especially Yours wig shampoo. Swirl gently without rubbing. Rinse thoroughly.

Conditioning

Using Especially Yours wig conditioner, simply spray your wig thoroughly after washing and blot dry. When dry, simply brush or comb into desired look.

Drying

Blot with a towel to remove excess water. To avoid damage, be sure not to rub, wring, twist, brush or comb wig when it is wet. Place on a wig stand and air dry at room temperature.

Making The Look Last

  • always keep your own hair clean to reduce washing frequency.
  • If your wig is a curly synthetic style, you should not brush it. Simply finger-style or use a pick comb instead.
  • We recommend more than one wig to allow proper time for cleaning and drying your wig.
  • Proper care and the use of specially formulated wig care products from Especially Yours will extend the life of your wig.

Q. I have tried styling my wig on my own but I’m still uneasy about wearing it. What should I do?

A. Take a second look at some of our styling tips – it may take a little time to get comfortable with styling your wig. If you’re still unsure, take it to your favorite stylist and let them work their magic.

Remember, it takes time to get used to new things. We suggest that you take at least two weeks to get used to your new style. Start by wearing it around the house and then show the world the beautiful new you.
